CAS-ual Fridays Baby card and CPS 255 sketch

Hi all! I hope everyone had a great weekend...I had some time to make a couple of cards so that always makes me happy! :) Our church has had a few families that have grown recently with some cute babies! So, I figured I'd make a card for one of the families and use the challenge from the CAS-ual Friday site to play along with. Here's the challenge:
I also loved the sketch from the CPS site for this week. Here's the sketch:
Who doesn't love a baby card? Here's my card. All papers are from My Mind's Eye the Stella Rose collection. The onesie is a stamp from the dollar bin at Michaels (I think) and it was stamped in faded jeans distress ink. The sentiment is also from the dollar bin. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week! Pat

A card that killed 2 challenges with one stone!

Hi all!

I've been MIA for almost a month! I can't believe it's been that long since I've posted anything...guess these past few weeks have been busier than I thought! But, alas, I got to play today! And maybe the long break helped fuel the fun b/c I enjoyed making the card immensely! :)

For this card, I used two different challenges. I started with the great sketch from the CPS site. It's a clean look and I love that look! Here's the sketch:
And I then combined this challenge with the fun challenge at CAS-ual Fridays. So, I got a great sketch and the "penguin suit" means I can only use black and white...yes--that's right up my alley! LOVE it!

Here's my card:
I started out by embossing a 4.25x5.5 piece of white cardstock using the cuttlebug swirls embossing folder. I cut it into 3rds and then added black ribbon. I used a label from sizzix and stamped the sentiment in black, embossed it, and added a few tiny rhinestones. Easy card to make--but it looks so elegant. Had I not had to stick to only white and black, I think the hearts would've been red or a mix of red and silver but I still like this look.

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Friday challenge and Wee Memories

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I was introduced to letterboxing today. It's kind of like geocache but without the GPS. We got to hike around a park and use clues to find boxes hidden around the park...It was fun--cold, but fun!

After a fun afternoon, nothing beats relaxing and crafting! I thought I'd combine two current challenges. One is from the CAS-ual Fridays site and the other is from the Wee Memories site. The Wee Memories site was gracious enough to let us have a "free for all" challenge and those are always fun b/c you can simply get creative without any restrictions. The CAS-ual Fridays site, however, had quite the creative way of displaying their challenge. Here it is:

I was intrigued the moment I saw the tic-tac-toe board! I started writing down all the possible combinations (as my husband sat there watching me and wondering what I was doing!) and then sat in my craft room wondering what would work best for me. Here's what I came up with...

I decided I'd go straight down the middle for my card combo. I wanted polka dots, kraft, and orange. I knew I had some polka dotted orange pattern paper and it was a matter of finding it! I found the Bright and Basic Recollections paper pack. I used a sketch for the design and simply laid out the papers and then added the strip of kraft-colored paper down the center. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I added the butterfly with a Fiskars punch (I think) and added some faux polka dots to it with a white pen. I added the faux stitches and then some buttons with pearls. Easy card--and easy to replicate. But I really enjoyed the way the challenge was laid out so I may try another combo before the challenge is over. :)

Have a great Sunday and thanks for stopping by!

CFC 21 and Jay Gee's Nook Challenge #12

Hi everyone!

I was lucky enough to play in my room twice in one day! Yay!!!! :) I try to leave the challenge sites open on my computer so that I can easily see what challenges I can try and there were 2 that caught my eye this evening.

The first is from CAS-ual Fridays. You can find the website here. Their latest challenge was for us to use make a monochromatic card using at least 3 shades of a color plus brown. I immediately knew I'd be distressing either in red or blue! :) And whenever I get a chance to get my fingers inked up, that's a good day!

The 2nd challenge comes from the Jay Gee's Nook site and you can find them here. This one is a picture inspiration type of challenge. Here's the inspiration.
The 2nd picture down from the right is the one that caught my eye. I love the bold print on that set of gift boxes. So, that's what I based the card on.

Here's my take:
Masking the bottom third of the card, I used the Hero Arts Damask Cling stamp for the background and stamped it in Dazzle Versamark. Heat embossed it and then the fun began! :) I took the following distress inks: Worn Lipstick, Barn Door, and Fired Brick and started coloring the white cardstock with the lightest color to the darkest. Then, I added some red ribbon. I took a paper flower, stamped text on it, and then added a red button to the center of it w/twine. Stamped the sentiment and I was done! Placed it on a kraft card and the challenges were complete!

Thanks for stopping by and come play along! :)

Jay Gee's Nook and CAS-ual Friday Challenge time

Hi all!

I sure hope everyone had a wonderful weekend...Our family was blessed to enjoy a weekend of sunshine with our church family on the Columbia River yesterday. Nothing like a waverunner ride while viewing God's nature to put a smile on my face! :)

I had a bit of extra time this morning so I thought I'd combine 2 challenges going on right now. One is from the Jay Gee's Nook website. You can find them and this week's challenge here. Here's the color inspiration photo they wanted us to work off of.

Truth be told, I am not a big fan of yellow AT ALL. But, that's why the challenge appealed to me. When I paired it w/the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays, where they asked us to use stickers on our card, it was a double challenge because I'm not a big fan of using stickers, either. If you want to check out their website and this week's challenge, you can find them here.

Alas, here's my card:

I started out w/kraft colored cardstock and then raided my sticker stash. I haven't looked in that stash for MONTHS! But, I did have the sketch in mind. I knew I needed 3 similar elements and a smaller one for the sketch so I quickly jumped through different packs of stickers. Then, I found these sunflowers that already had the embellishments on them and I had 3 of them! This card was super easy to make! I even had the bumblebee in the same set of stickers. (Don't know where the stickers came from, though, because they were a gift from my mom.) After adhering them, I added faux white stitching and the sentiment. DONE! I don't think it took more than maybe 15 minutes to make. However, I was proud of myself because, like I said, I'm not a fan of yellow. And I'm not a fan of using stickers on my cards. Maybe these challenges have helped me see the error in my ways and try incorporating both elements into my cards more...

Thanks for stopping by and for all the sweet comments, too!
