Sharing a couple of cards
Hi everyone!
So sorry for the long lag time in between posts...I'm back home after having a quick surgery and I'm into my 2nd week of recovery. Thankfully, it's been an easy recovery and my hubby and kids have been great helpers and supporters of "down time" for me...
Right before surgery, though, I did have some cards to make. The first was a quick Valentines card I made for my husband. We've celebrated 13 Valentine's Days now and I thought the sentiment on the card was perfect for us. Plus, living in WA state, we do get a lot of rain so the umbrella was perfect!
Here's the card:
Cute and simple card...trying to get better at not making cards that are too elaborate...
My second card was for a couple that just had a baby boy. I thought making a row of onesies would be perfect for them.
Here's my 2nd card:
Thanks so much for stopping by...and I'll try to get back to posting more regularly.
Have a great rest of the week!

MIA for a bit
Hi everyone!
So sorry I haven't been online much...Had surgery on Tues and that's had me a bit occupied...
Hoping to get back online soon to share some cards I did before going in to the hospital and hoping to start crafting soon!
Have a great weekend!

Lily Pad and CPS challenge combo
Hi everyone!
It was a big party at my house tonight with my hubby inviting friends over for the Superbowl. I'm originally from NY so I decided to watch the game and was SO happy to see the GIANTS win!
Before the game, though, I was able to sit and create a bit. The current challenge over at the Lily Pad site caught my eye b/c, well, as I've stated before, I'm just not a fan of the color pink. Now they paired it with green--another color that's not in my "fave" list. And the CPS site has amazing sketches going on for the next couple of weeks in honor of their 5th anniversary. So, I figured I'd try my hand at the color challenge and use the sketch to give me some guidance. Here's the color combo and the sketch.
Here's my card.
I didn't have the right color green in my cardstock stash so I went ahead and used shabby shutters distress ink to get the shade I wanted. Then, I embossed it (swiss dots) using the cuttlebug. I stamped in green ink the happy b-day definition stamp from Hero Arts on the small white portion and then stamped a Hero Arts cupcake on the pink portion and heat embossed it in white. I then colored it in using a red glaze pen. I added a red ribbon and the voila! The card is done. Even though I'm not a big fan of the colors, I will say that I ended up liking the card--yet another reason I participate in these challenges. I may not always start out liking the challenge but it's fun to see the finished product come together!
Have a wonderful week and thanks for stopping by!

Jay Gee's Nook and Card Pattern challenge
Hi everyone!
I'm so happy that I got to play along with the latest challenge on the Jay Gee's Nook site! There's tons of inspiration from their photo and I thought it'd be a fun way to incorporate a sketch from the Card Patterns site, too. For some reason, the picture from Jay Gee's isn't loading on my site. So PLEASE click on the link to their site to see the inspiration photo. I wanted to use some of the pink and yellow in the inspiration picture and also the buttons.
Here's the sketch I based my card on:
Here's my card: I mounted the card on a dark blue cardstock that was inked with chipped sapphire distress ink. I arranged the buttons and added the pearl centers and then adhered those to the card. I tied the ribbon and punched out a tag for the sentiment and the card was done! I usually don't leave a lot of "white" space on a card so this one really challenged. I had to literally fight with myself to NOT add more stuff to the card and to just leave it a CAS card. But it was a fun card to do since it was so different for me.
Hope you can play along, too!
Happy Sunday!

Young Crafters Unite card
Hi everyone!
It's finally Friday! I'm so looking forward to the weekend...not sure why--but maybe I just want a bit of a break from the normal routine...
All my "men" went to bed early so I got to play awhile. I chose the challenge at Young Crafters Unite to inspire my latest card. I love sketches and I knew this one would be fun to play with.
Here's the sketch:
Here's my card:
I usually try to switch up the sketch a bit but I loved this one! I love simple and clean lines and so I left the sketch in its original form. All the papers are from My Mind's Eye Stella Rose. The stamp--which is one of my latest purchases and I LOVE--is from Technique Tuesday and it's called Life is good. LOVE it! I heat embossed the image and then used mustard seed and spiced marmalade distress inks to color in the image. Of all the stamping techniques, I think this is my favorite! The final touch was just adding some twine to a button and the card was done. :)
Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Color Throwdown card
Hi everyone!
Can't believe how fast this week has gone...Today was a special day in our house--my oldest turned 10! So, no homeschooling today. It was a relaxed day at home and hubby took the day off, too.
Tonight I was lucky enough to play a bit. And I saw the Color Throwdown site and knew I wanted to play along! Here's the color combo we had to work with:
Anyone who knows me knows that I love the colors white and black. LOVE them! But pink isn't at the top of my list of favorites...It's not at the bottom of the list--but it's definitely not at the top, either! So, I figured this was a good way to make me use pink.
Here's my card:The pink isn't the exact match of the swatch for the site but I guess it's close enough! I used the Hero Arts stripes stamp and emboss set. So easy! And this look is so classy! I used pink dye pink to stamp it and then embossed the entire card. It's mounted on black and I added a couple of pink rhinestones. Then, I added some stamped presents (from the dollar bin) and stamped the sentiment in black. I wanted to add some flowers but just couldn't find the right color and thought it best to just leave it. It's such an elegant look--and yet so easy...
Have a great Friday!

Where does the time go?
Hi all!
Hope everyone is having a good week so far...I am realizing that tomorrow my oldest son will be 10 years old! When did that happen?! How is it possible?! So, we're taking a day off from school and having friends over and some play time. My hubby is taking the day off and we'll be able to enjoy a family day...all while remembering that 10 years ago our journey as parents began.
In honor of my son's b-day, I made him a card. Here it is:I actually used a mask that had tons of numbers on it and then used a blue glimmer mist spray. It was so easy but I LOVED the look! I colored in the "10" and then added some ribbon and bling. I added some faux white stitching, too.
Thanks for stopping by--and hug your kids a bit tighter today...time flies!
